The Jaguar's Spots - illustrations

Las Manchas de Jaguar (The Jaguar's Spots)
A reader for Amplify Education, the Mayan myth about how Jaguars got their spots.
The Jaguar walks like he owns the jungle, he is beyond proud of his solid yellow coat. He steps on a talking flower by accident and gets startled.
The jaguar overhears some macaws in the tree above gloating about their beautiful feathers, he gets jealous of the parrots.
Monkeys in an avocado tree begin playing and throwing avocados on the ground, annoying the leopard.
Some avocados hit the jaguar and he gets angrier...
The jaguar then lunges up at the monkeys, managing to scratch the smallest one. The monkeys are shocked and upset.
The monkeys go to see Yum Kaax to see what can be done about the arrogant jaguar. Yum Kaax tries to listen as the monkeys begin speaking all at once.
Once they tell him the story, Yum Kaax scolds them for being so reckless around other animals, but he also gives them a plan on how to humble the jaguar.
Yum Kaax's plan is to stain the jaguar's fur permanently with rotten avocados, the monkeys find the jaguar stretching by a river and wait until jaguar is asleep.
The monkeys pelt jaguar with rotten avocados, waking him up with a startle and not enough time to evade the oncoming fruits.
Jaguar franticly goes in and out of the river trying to remove the stains from his coat, to no avail.
While the jaguar cries by the river back under the avocado tree, the monkeys gleefully celebrate the success of Yum Kaax's plan. The arrogant jaguar is no more.
